ECW Hardcore TV (November 29, 1994)

I guess because I watched a couple episodes of WWECW on YouTube, the ol’ YouTube algorithm has decided to start autoplaying other ECW stuff after videos I watch so today we’ve got a random-ass episode of ECW from back when it was an upstart wrestling promotion in Philadelphia or whatever euphamism WWF and WCW used to use when talking about it in the 90s. This is the November 29, 1994 installment of Hardcore TV (which the show might not even actually be called at this point). I’ve never seen this episode before since I didn’t start watching ECW until 1995 and only made it about halfway through 1994 the last time I got on an ECW kick so let’s see what sort of wildness we’ve got here.

WWF Action Zone (October 30, 1994)

On March 14, 2022 professional wrestler, Scott Hall, passed away at age 63 so today we’re going to look at a show that prominently features the Bad Guy, specifically the October 30, 1994 episode of WWF Action Zone which is coming to us previously recorded in the Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY. Vince McMahon and Todd Pettengill are on the call.

WWF Osaka Mania (May 9, 1994)

It’s Royal Rumble season as since the WWE Network’s cheap as free tier only has Rumbles I’ve seen already and have no real desire to revisit available, I’ve decided to go elsewhere for my guys throwing other guys out of the ring fix…specifically Osaka, Japan on May 9, 1994. It turns out that during a tour of Japan in 1994 the WWF decided to have an 18-man Royal Rumble match close out the show in Osaka and as someone in the crowd filmed the entire show with a camcorder I am able to watch in some 28 years after the fact so let’s get down to it.

WCW Worldwide (February 26, 1994)

WCW_Worldwide

I’ve decided to continue watching random-ass wrestling C-Shows on YouTube and after watching that AEW show the other day I came to realize that it’s been far too long since I’ve reviewed any WCW here. Since WCW is easily my all time favorite wrestling promotion I’ve decided to rectify that which means today we’re taking a look at the February 26, 1994 episode of WCW Worldwide.

ECW When Worlds Collide (May 14, 1994)

ECW - When Worlds Collide 1994 Cover.jpg

Time for an ECW Supercard! One that’s not available on the WWE Network as of writing this. This one is coming to us from the ECW Arena on May 14, 1994. We start things off with more or less the same opening montage that begins every 1994 episode of ECW TV before heading down to the ring for action. ECW! ECW! ECW!

ECW Hardcore TV (March 29, 1994)

ULTIMATE JEOPARDY! Highlights of the event are shown during the cold open. It looks like it was basically War Games with competitors entering one at a time. Looks like the order of the entrants was Taz and Rocco Rock to start followed by Johnny Grunge, Kevin Sullivan, Mr. Hughes, Terry Funk, Shane Douglas, and Hawk.

The highlight reel was pretty good and I liked how they’d edit in one of the earlier Tod Gordon or Matty Indahouse hype videos to announce what each dude’s stipulation for losing was as that competitor came out.

We get the ending of the match that saw Mr. Hughes and Shane Douglas alone in the cage with Terry Funk. Douglas ties a plastic bag over Funk’s head and hitting him with a pile driver to pick up the win. Due to the pre-match stipulation this means that Shane Douglas is now the ECW Heavyweight Champion!

ECW Hardcore TV (March 22, 1994)

We kick things off with the closing moments of last week’s main event in which saw Taz besting Sabu in a fairly contested bout of grappling to become ECW TV Champion…wait that’s not how it went down? The ending was an overbooked mess in which Kevin Sullivan appeared to stop Paul Heyman from waffling Woman with a Zack Morris cellphone thus distracting Sabu an allowing Taz to pick up the win? Umm…ECW? ECW? ECW?

ECW Hardcore TV (March 15, 1994)

Paul Heyman is here to hype up the main event between the TV Champion, Sabu, and the human suplex machine, The Tazmaniac before we get the opening video.

In the ECW Command Center…

Joey Styles welcomes us to the show and runs down the card. We get a double main event tonight. In addition to the match Heyman announced at the top of the program, we also have a six man tag team match pitting Shane Douglas & The Public Enemy against Terry Funk, Kevin Sullivan and Hugh “Crash” Morrus. Joey then tosses it to Douglas and the PE who are standing by in an unfinished basement.
