NWA:TNA Weekly PPV #53 (July 16, 2003)

I continue to haphazardly make my way through IMPACT Wrestling’s 20 year history with another one of their weekly PPVs, specifically the July 16, 2003 show from the Asylum in Nashville, Tennessee. Don’t know anything about it save for the fact that it’s about a month after the one year anniversary show I watched a few weeks back.

TNA Destination X 2005 (March 13, 2005)

So I continue my foray into being a guy who only watches IMPACT Wrestling today with a look at Destination X 2005 coming to us live from the IMPACT Zone in Orlando, Florida. I think I’m going to go through the random IMPACT shows that are available in full on IMPACT’s YouTube channel along with the random stuff of questionable legality I have on an external hard drive in chronological order and this one seems to be the oldest one that I’ve not reviewed already so it seems as good a place as any to start so let’s get to it.

WWF Raw Is War (October 12, 1998)

Another week, another episode of Raw Is War from 1998. It seems that we’ve finally gotten to the point of the Attitude Era where every episode of Raw has some huge, super memorable non-wrestling related angle surrounded by a bunch of shitty wrestling matches that 9 times out of 10 end in a DQ or No Contest. Will that trend continue this week or are we going to get two hours of five star mat classics? Let’s find out!

WWF Raw Is War (September 21, 1998)

Last week’s episode of Raw Is War was, if not the best single episode of the show I’ve seen since I started this project, definitely up there in terms of quality. The angles were good and well booked, the in-ring action was pretty good for the standards of the day, and the crowd was absolutely nuclear, all leading to a surprisingly entertaining show. Will this week continue that trend? God I hope so!

WWF Raw Is War (September 12, 1998)

So last week’s Raw was very likely the worst Raw I saw since I started this stupid project. There might have been other individual segments that were worse and/or more offensive than anything that appeared on last week’s show and stand alone matches that I hated more than any of the matches we got last week but the overarching storyline of Kane and Undertaker murdering everyone coupled with the fact that it was a Raw that was preempted due to the US Open and therefore airing at 11:00pm on a Saturday Night meant there wasn’t anything worth watching happening.

Unfortunately for me this is another Raw that is airing on Saturday night because of the US Open so I’m not really expecting anything here and will count myself lucky if I get a five minute D’Lo Brown or X-Pac match that doesn’t end in a DQ. So let’s get down to business.

WWF Raw Is War (September 5, 1998)

So I’d already reviewed the August 24, 1998 episode of Raw before I began this project and the August 17, 1998 episode was so shitty I decided to just watch old NWA studio wrestling shit instead of reviewing an episode of Sunday Night Heat or SummerSlam. This week, though I’m back on the grind and…FUCK! It’s a Saturday episode of Raw because Raw was preempted by the US Open. Maybe they’ll just be like, “No one’s watching anyway so let’s just let X-Pac and Brian Christopher wrestle an 8 minute match like it’s Shotgun Saturday Night!”

WWF Raw Is War (August 17, 1998)

Last week’s episode was utter trash outside of the main event but here I am once again watching another episode of Raw Is War from the year 1998 and writing words about it on the internet. I’m a bit worried that the style of last week’s episode is going to become the norm from here on out but I set out to review the entire year of 1998 this year so I’ll be damned if I give up the ghost now.

USWA Championship Wrestling (August 4, 1990)

Since I’ve run out of WWF content for the month of July 1998 I need something else to look at and have decided on some Memphis studio shit because it’s very much my jam. Also it’s only like an hour long and mostly squash matches so I can do a half-assed job reviewing it and it won’t make much of a difference. Anyway, today we’re going to take a gander at the August 4, 1990 episode of USWA Championship Wrestling.
