WCW/NJPW Supershow I (March 21, 1991)

Today I’m going to take a look at a WCW show from 1991 I do not think I’ve ever seen before, their joint show with New Japan Pro Wrestling originating from the Egg Dome in Tokyo. Much like they would later do with the Collision in Korea show (another New Japan collaberation), WCW released a truncated version of the show for American audiences which is the version I’m watching. I might go an see if I can find the matches that were cut from this version since they apparently exist but I don’t know if I really need to see Scott Norton take on the guy that would go on to become Evad Sullivan or random early 90s New Japan guys I’ve never heard of so who knows? As for why I’ve never seen this show that’s because it’s one of the few WCW PPVs that, to my knowledge, never got added to the WWE Network. I’m assuming it’s due to some sort of New Japan related rights issues (Collision in Korea is another one that’s nowhere to be found on the Network). Anyway here we go!

WWF Survivor Series (November 27, 1991)

WWF Survivor Series 1991

The free tier of the award-winning WWE Network has a bunch of old-ass PPVs up that are apparently important to the career of the Undertaker so today I’m watching Survivor Series 1991 because I’m an old man who likes old shit and this is the oldest shit that’s available for cheap as free on the WWE Network.

After watching that random-ass episode of CWA from ’81 the other day I decided I needed more Memphis bullshit in my life and figured I might as well just watch all the Ta-Gar shit I can find so today we’re going to check on the June 15, 1991 episode of USWA Championship Wrestling on WMC-5.

USWA Championship Wrestling on WMC-5 (June 29, 1991)

I’m going down to Memphis today for whatever reason with a random episode of USWA Championship Wrestling on WMC-5. We’ve got Dave Brown and Michael St. John calling the action at the WMC Television Studio this morning. They run down the matches we’ll see this morning and then tell us that after the break will get down to action.

WCW Clash of the Champions XVI: Fall Brawl (September 5, 1991)

WCW 19910905 - Clash of Champions Logo.gif

We begin things with a brief video that gives us a rundown of the main matches on the card before heading to the Civic Center in Augusta, GA where we are joined by our hosts for the evening Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone. They talk about what’s going on tonight and then throw it to their broadcast colleagues who are standing about ten feet away from them.

Eric Bischoff, Missy Hyatt and Paul E. Dangerously talk about what they will be doing during the Clash. Missy Hyatt is apparently still on her quest to interview a dude in the locker room and promises an interview with the World Heavyweight Champion, Lex Luger. Paul E. is going to interview the man who will challenge Luger for the title at Halloween Havoc, “The All-American” Ron Simmons. Bischoff then throws it over to the ring announcer to get the Clash underway with the first match of the evening.

WCW WrestleWar ’91 (February 24, 1991)

WCW WrestleWar '91

With William “Steven” Regal recently announcing a WarGames match for the upcoming NXT pay per view special I decided to go back and watch some old WarGames matches to get me super excited. Since I’d also been randomly watching WCW from 1991 it made sense for me to watch the WarGames match from that year, so let’s go back to February 24, 1991 for WrestleWar ’91!
