WCW Clash of the Champions XXXI (August 6, 1995)

My quest to clear out my hard drive of wrestling shows I haven’t reviewed continues today with some mid-90s WCW, specifically Clash of the Champions XXXI. I know for a fact I watched this live on TBS when it happened and remember the main event and Hulk Hogan’s shenanigans that happen during this show but don’t remember much of the undercard so I guess it’ll be interesting to see what WCW was up to in the lead up to Nitro becoming a thing.

WWF Monday Night Raw (May 22, 1995)

MondayNightRaw1993

I’m continuing to haphazardly go back through my old posts and flesh out the random single match reviews I used to do back in the day and replace them with full show recaps and so we’re taking a look at the May 22, 1995 edition of WWF Monday Night Raw. Why this episode of all things? Because this was apparently Triple H’s debut on WWE’s flagship show and WWE posted that match up on YouTube some years ago and I watched it. That’s why. So let’s get down to it!

IWA Japan Kawasaki Dream (August 20, 1995)

iwa-kawasaki-dream

While 1995 was possibly one of the worst years for professional wrestling in the United States, over in Japan it was a different story and wrestling was maybe the hottest it had ever been. One need look no further than the fact that even sleazy as fuck deathmatch promotions were able to fill baseball stadiums to see just how big wrestling was in Japan in the mid-90s.

WCW Pro (October 7, 1995)

WCW-Pro-1995

After a brief, “Maybe WWE is going to be good again…nope, I guess not,” period, I’ve realized that all I really want is WCW or WCW 2.0 type shit. Since AEW doesn’t have a bajillion hours of programming yet, and that Billy Corgan studio show NWA doesn’t start airing for a few days/weeks yet, I’ve decided to go watch another random-ass WCW C-Show from 1995, specifically the October 7, 1995 episode of WCW Pro.

WCW/NJPW Collision in Korea (August 4, 1995)

wcw-collision-in-korea-1995

In an industry where weird occurrences are often the norm, perhaps one of the strangest events of all took place when in April of 1995, when WCW and NJPW went to North Korea to hold two days of grappling in Pyeongyang (April 28-29) headlined by Japanese wrestling legend, Antonio Inoki, taking on the dirtiest player in the game, Ric Flair. Held at the Rungrado May Day Stadium the two day event boasted a two day attendance record of 340,000 (190,000 on day two alone) a fact that WCW oddly never really played up.

In fact they never made a big deal about this this thing at all choosing to air matches pulled from both days of the event as a PPV special months after the fact. It is this August 4, 1995 PPV version of the show that I’m reviewing here today.

IWA Japan Wrestling House! Domestic Violence Deathmatch (May 18, 1995)

IWA Japan Wrestling House! Domestic Violence Deathmatch

It’s been a while since I’ve watched sleazy Japanese deathmatch shit from the mid-90s so here’s a review of a 1995 tape from IWA Japan. I’m pretty sure that this tape was released by the same company that put out the Bathhouse Deathmatch tape, the tape where Yumi Fukawa fights people in the street and at a waterslide park, and that Big Japan Supermarket Deathmatch thing. Looking at those tapes you might see something of a pattern as they all have wrestling matches unfold in venues that one would not expect a wrestling match to break out. This tape is no exception as it features a wrestling match in a house in a suburban neighborhood. Let’s check it out!

WCW Pro (November 25, 1995)

Been on a bit of a mid-90s WCW kick as of late so here’s another review of a random-ass episode of the Pro from November 1995, specifically the November 25, 1995 episode. The show begins with a brief clip of Hogan getting jumped by the Dungeon of Doom from this past week’s episode of Nitro after which we head to Orlando, Florida for another ALL ACTION episode WCW Pro!

AJW The Sneak Attack Wrestling (July 27, 1995 – August 3, 1995)

AJW The Sneak Attack Wrestling

It’s been awhile since I’ve written junk here because I decided to be a movie guy in 2019 and kind of stopped watching wrestling but tonight I got drunk and decided to watch some sleazy Japanese wrestling from the 1990s because I’m a dirtbag.

Today we’re reviewing the All Japan Women’s Wrestling The Sneak Attack Wrestling tape (ザ闇討ちプロレス) since it’s only like an hour long and all the matches are hella short. I’ve not watch wrestling in a long ass time so I don’t know if I’ve got it in me to watch a 40 minute grapplefest yet. Anyway let’s get down to business!

WCW Monday Nitro (September 25, 1995)

WCW_Monday_Nitro_TNT_Logo

Time for another old-ass episode of Monday Nitro because I’m a miserable old fuck who doesn’t have a ton of free time. Let’s check this shit out! We’re live from somewhere. I have no idea where exactly since Eric Bischoff doesn’t mention it. He’s joined by Bobby Heenan, Mongo, and Mongo’s dog, Pepe, who is dressed as a horse for some reason this week.
