FMW-E Battle Royal (September 12, 2021)

It’s been awhile since I’ve watched any “garbage wrestling” from the Land of the Rising Sun so I figured I check out Atsushi Onita’s most recent attempt at reviving FMW, FMW-E (the E stands of “Explosion”) since all the matches from this one were up on YouTube for cheap as free.

Gatoh Move ChocoPro #87 (February 6, 2021)

Mei Suruga has seemingly replaced Maki Itoh as the wrestler my kid is all in on so as of late we’ve been watching a lot of ChocoPro shows that have her featured in the YouTube thumbnail. So today here are words about ChocoPro #87. All I knew about this show going into it was that Mei Suruga was facing some lady named Saki at some point during it. So let’s see what else we have going on!

Gatoh Move ChocoPro #86 (January 31, 2021)

My kid is kind getting of into wrestling but gives zero shits about dudes wrestling so I’m probably going to start watching more joshi stuff. Today I’m writing words about an episode of Gatoh Move’s ChocoPro show that I watched with my daughter the other day. I kind of dig Gatoh Move because it’s a bit zanier than something like Stardom and even Tokyo Joshi Pro which appeals to kid more than nonstop hard hitting action does. It’s also cheap as free which appeals to me. Anyway here are words about ChocoPro #86 which we watched because it had Mei Suruga (who my daughter likes a lot) in the thumbnail on YouTube.

MLW Battle Riot III (July 24, 2021)

It’s January which means it’s Royal Rumble season and there’s nothing I want to watch more than dudes making staggered entrances and attempting to throw each other out of a wrestling ring. Unfortunately for me the Rumble offerings on the cheap as free tier of the WWE Network are all mediocre Rumbles I’ve already seen and I’ll be damned if I’m going to give WWE money again anytime soon. Luckily for me MLW has there own take on the Royal Rumble up in full on YouTube so I’m going to watch that instead.

AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament: Show 4 (March 1, 2021)

I don’t think I ever watched this one and since my kid likes watching random women’s wrestling matches I figured this one would be a fine show to watch since it wasn’t overlong. So here are some words about random wrestling matches that aired on YouTube seven months ago.

NXT 2.0 (September 14, 2021)

So I got my second dose of a corona vaccine the other day and was at home afterwards looking for some bullshit to watch when I realized that the cheap as free tier of the WWE Network now has the first episode of the revamped NXT available so I figured I’d give it go. NXT was my jam for a long time but to be perfectly honest since AEW came into existence I’ve watched a lot less of it to the point that I’d probably consider myself a lapsed fan now. I’ll still look at highlights or check out matches that are supposed to be great but really haven’t watched a full show since I randomly checked out a corona era show just to see how the NXT crew was dealing with the pandemic.

Why am I rambling about this? Well because I don’t know about any of the long term booking that may or may not have been jettisoned due to this soft reboot. There’s a good chance that I won’t know the difference between someone debuting in this episode and someone who showed up six months ago. I’m going in with an open mind and giving NXT 90 minutes to win this lapsed fan back. Will they be able to? Let’s find out!

Stardom 5★ Grand Prix 2021 (August 29, 2021)

Back in February my kid ended up watching that AEW Women’s Championship tournament deal they did with since she and I were both quarantined on account of possible COVID exposure since then she’s become something of a fan of joshi wrestling. We watch a lot of Gatoh Move because it’s cheap as free on YouTube and has some of the folks she knew from the AEW tournament and we watch Tokyo Joshi Pro because it’s got Yuka Sakazaki in it and she’s my kid’s favorite but this Stardom show showed up in my YouTube recommendations so she and I gave it a watch. Since this is something I watched with a small child and therefore spent way more time hooting and hollering than normal I’m going to forego most of the play by play stuff and just go with the broad strokes and then give my thoughts about it. Might get my daughter to comment on the matches too. Who knows?

AEW Dark Elevation (September 27, 2021)

I don’t generally watch AEW Dark Elevation but this week’s episode is only 38 minutes long and I needed something to watch while drinking a beer so I fired it up on the ol’ YouTube and gave it a watch. They’re still in the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, NY as part of that chunk of tapings so if nothing else there will probably be some insane crowd reactions to the random squash matches we’ll be getting here.
