NXT Vengeance Day 2023 (February 4, 2023)

I guess there was another PPV on basic cable this weekend and so I ended up watching NXT Vengeance Day on a Sunday morning with my kid. I honestly can’t remember when the last time I watched NXT was. I think it might have been back at the dawn of NXT 2.0 which isn’t a thing anymore so I’m pretty much going into this thing cold.

NXT 2.0 (September 14, 2021)

So I got my second dose of a corona vaccine the other day and was at home afterwards looking for some bullshit to watch when I realized that the cheap as free tier of the WWE Network now has the first episode of the revamped NXT available so I figured I’d give it go. NXT was my jam for a long time but to be perfectly honest since AEW came into existence I’ve watched a lot less of it to the point that I’d probably consider myself a lapsed fan now. I’ll still look at highlights or check out matches that are supposed to be great but really haven’t watched a full show since I randomly checked out a corona era show just to see how the NXT crew was dealing with the pandemic.

Why am I rambling about this? Well because I don’t know about any of the long term booking that may or may not have been jettisoned due to this soft reboot. There’s a good chance that I won’t know the difference between someone debuting in this episode and someone who showed up six months ago. I’m going in with an open mind and giving NXT 90 minutes to win this lapsed fan back. Will they be able to? Let’s find out!

NXT Kids (August 13, 2015)

I am a huge fan of pilots for wrestling shows that never ended getting picked up: All Wheels Wrestling and AWA Team Challenge Series and the like, so when I learned of a pilot for a show titled NXT Kids that was accidentally released to the public back in 2015 my interest was piqued. I mean WWE’s previous foray into programing explicitly marketed towards children, Saturday Morning Slam, was legitimately great with a ton of hidden gems and NXT’s 2015 roster was every bit as good if not better than the WWE 2013 roster so I fired it up and hoped for the best.

NXT (May 18, 2010)

I continue to plow through the first season of NXT with a bit of renewed vigor after last week’s shocking triple elimination. Which of the remaining five rookies will cut a shockingly good promo after being sent home after this? Probably none of them since really only Barrett and Otunga are decent on the mic and I’m pretty sure those two end up being the final two Rookies, but I’m getting a bit ahead of myself. Let’s get wild and/or young!

NXT (May 11, 2010)

It’s time for another quick review of a wrestling show from a decade ago as I continue my deep dive into Season 1 of NXT. This episode was the first episode of the season that I couldn’t find on the official WWE YouTube channel but fortunately some dude with a name like WrestleJunk316 had it up in a much lower resolution. Anyway this episode is going to feature the first elimination of the season so let’s see who’s going home.

NXT (May 4, 2010)

So towards the end of the year I start to rejigger my pop culture diet a bit in anticipation for the following year. Towards the end of 2019 I decided that in 2020 I was going to be a “movie guy.” Corona had other plans but even with theaters being closed for most of the year I’ll probably end up having seen over 120 films (the vast majority of which I’d not seen before) by the end of the year. Maybe not a lot for an actual cinephile, but better than the 75 I managed the year before when I also decided to be a movie guy. This coming year I’m mixing shit up and I’m going to go all in on being an anime guy.

NXT (April 27, 2010)

My deep dive into the inaugural season of NXT continues full steam ahead as we take a look at the April 27, 2010 episode. We’re still two weeks away from the first elimination and…oh God can’t it come faster than that? Get ready for another dumb, pointless challenge, and Michael Cole shitting on Daniel Bryan as he gets squashed by Michael Tarver or some shit for no good reason. Wild and young!

NXT (April 20, 2010)

After a couple of diversions into other random-ass bullshit I was able to find on YouTube and slightly less reputable YouTube clone sites it’s time to get back to the business at hand by which I mean my decision to review ten year old episodes of the game show version of NXT. So let’s get wild and/or young again as we see what the NXT Rookies were up to back in 2010!
