WWF Shotgun Saturday Night (March 15, 1997)

Time for another exciting episode of Shotgun Saturday Night. This is the first episode of the show that wasn’t overlapping with WWF Superstar and the show isn’t coming to us from Europe so we’ll have an idea of what the new Shotgun Saturday Night format is going to look like going forward so let’s get to it!

WWF Superstars (January 26, 1997)

So I’m taking a bit of a detour from watching Shotgun Saturday Night to watch another C-Show from 1997, specifically the January 26, 1997 episode of WWF Superstars. Why am I watching this you ask? Well on the January 25, 1997 episode of Shotgun Saturday Night they hyped this episode up and in doing so alerted me to the fact that there was actually a second WWF (Insert Program Name Here) Bowl match.

That’s right folks! The story you heard about the Raw Bowl being so atrociously bad that it was never revisited was as wrong as the legend you heard about the 1997 Royal Rumble being the first appearance of JR’s cowboy hat. So let us see how the WWF dealt with Superbowl Sunday on a random C-Show back in 1997.

WWF Shotgun Saturday Night (January 11, 1997)

I’m going to guess that because I watched an episode of Los Super Astros the other day this popped up in my YouTube recommendations. I figured “Why not?” and so here are words about the second episode of WWF Shotgun Saturday Night. This is from when the show was still a live late night broadcast primarily for the New York market.

WWF Raw Is War (June 15, 1998)

The episode before this one was kind of a slog to get through but it was a pre-recorded episode and this one is liveā€¦or at least was when it aired 23 years ago so hopefully it’s a bit better than that one was. I don’t know if I could deal with two consecutive weeks of largely mediocre grappling and wheel spinning. So let’s get down to business and see what this week has in store for me.

WWF Raw Is War (June 8, 1998)

My journey through WWF’s 1998 programming continues with the June 8, 1998 installment of Raw Is War. We’re very nearly halfway through the year and to borrow a turn of phrase from Good Ol’ JR, “business is about to pick up.” Last week planted the seeds for THAT Mankind vs. Undertaker Hell in a Cell match and also set up Kane as the number one contender for Stone Cold’s title. Also Al Snow dressed up as every racist Asian stereotype at once. Truly we are smackdab in the middle of the Attitude Era folks! So let’s strap ourselves in and get ready for another installment of Raw Is War!

WWF Raw Is War (May 11, 1998)

I really liked last week’s episode of Raw Is War a lot. There were some decent matches and promos, sensible angle development and surprisingly little dick talk or other crude sex nonsese. Will that continue this week or will we return to thirty minutes of Triple H talking about his cock and five matches that barely last a minute before we get some sort of fuck finish? Let’s find out!

WWF Raw Is War (May 4, 1998)

I’m honestly a bit surprised that I’ve managed to make it this far in this goofy project. I would have assumed I’d have gotten tired of this all by this point and given up  on it but here we are in May and I’m still going strong. This week we’re taking a look at the May 4, 1998 episode of Raw Is War so without further ado let’s get down to it.

WWF Raw Is War (April 20, 1998)

If we weren’t before after last week we’re without a doubt in the Attitude Era as our main event saw Austin take on Vince McMahon for the WWF Championshipā€¦or rather would have had Dude Love not shown up and turned heel on Austin. So let’s get right into it and see what sort of fallout there is from Dude’s actions last week on Raw and how many marijuana references there are since this is also the 4/20 episode of Raw!
